Programme
Education & Community Libraries
Education is where the foundation began, and it is still where most of our week goes. We run reading rooms, supply the books and stationery that quietly decide whether a child stays enrolled, and work alongside village schools across Thoubal.

How it works
Forty million children in India do not go to school, and a great many of those who drop out do so over costs that look small from the outside: a set of notebooks, a school bag, a uniform. Our book and stationery distributions are deliberately unglamorous work aimed at exactly that gap.
Alongside the distributions we maintain a community library. It is open to any child in the village, stocked with illustrated readers in languages children actually read for pleasure, and staffed by volunteers who sit with the youngest readers rather than shushing them.
We also work directly with village schools, supporting morning assemblies, enrolment drives and the extension sessions that bring older students into contact with ideas they would otherwise meet years later, if at all.
On the ground
- A free community library and supervised reading room
- Book, notebook and stationery distribution to rural households
- School enrolment support for children at risk of dropping out
- Extension and awareness sessions in partner schools
- Support for school assemblies, parades and annual functions
