Programme

Livelihoods & Agriculture

Manipur's rural economy runs on small holdings and household craft. Our livelihood work backs self-help groups, trains women in embroidery and weaving, and supports farmers with the practices that keep land productive.

How it works

Self-help groups are the backbone of this programme. They are where saving becomes possible, where a loan for raw material does not require a moneylender, and where women who had no income of their own three years ago now run one.

Embroidery and weaving are not a hobby here; they are Manipur's most portable, most dependable household trade. Training is practical and finishes with a sellable skill, not a certificate.

On the agricultural side we work on soil and water conservation and run farmer training sessions, pairing them with plantation activity so that the conservation work has something living to show for it.

On the ground

  • Formation and mentoring of women's self-help groups
  • Embroidery and handloom weaving skill training
  • Farmer training and extension sessions
  • Soil and water conservation on village holdings
  • Plantation activity tied to conservation work
